SAVASANa
SANSKRIT: शवासन
I appreciate you, Savasana and how you are so good to me.
A perfect way to seal all the effort and energy that was put into the practice, a moment to allow everything to settle into our bodies and mind.
This final restorative pose is one of the most challenging poses to do by bringing everything to a complete. To be able to enter a relaxed state while remaining in the present moment can be tough.
Anxiety, panic, worries, stress, expectations, anger, and other external stimuli can distract us from surrendering completely during Savasana.
This is why Savasana is so important: to teach us to be here, right now.
At this point in the practice, you wouldn’t want to be mentally or emotionally stimulated by any sudden noises of loud chanting, gonging, beats dropping in a song that might take you out of this meditative state.
It’s all about the vibe.
We can add a little more chill in our lives. Like the feeling you get laying underneath a palm tree on an island somewhere or floating off in space on a cloud.
That’s what I’m trying to go for and what I try to provide for my students during this sweet closing moment of the practice.
Here are 10 of my favorite go-to Savasana songs.
