Some days, it is such struggle to get yourself to step onto the mat.
Maybe it is the residual effects from having a bad day at the office, feeling stressed out by family commitments, or being overall unsatisfied with the current state of everything is dampening your mood.
It might feel like there’s a never-ending list of things to get done and you feel guilty for going to yoga.
You simply feel uninspired to practice because you are not seeing the immediate progress and results.
Yoga can be tough sometimes, whether it is on a mental, physical, energetic, or spiritual level. And doing various poses can be too much during certain moments of your life, opening up emotions that you were not ready to face.
Well, I’m here to tell you today that it doesn’t have to be that way.
The best advice I have for myself and others is to approach our yoga practice with tenderness, love and an open-mind. Yoga is multi-faceted and it doesn’t necessarily need to be physical in order to be doing yoga.
Practicing non-violence aka ahimsa (example: not having harmful thoughts about yourself and others) is enough.
Having the intention of “Yes, I want to practice today,” is also enough even if you do not feel inspired to make it onto your mat.
Here are 15 positive affirmations that I am offering to you todays as inspiration when feeling stuck about your practice, both on and off the mat. I hope you find these helpful for whatever you are struggling with right now and know that you’ll get through it. Happy practicing!
Setting Up the Intention
At the start of your practice, find a comfortable and supported seat with your eyes closed softly. Take the first few moments to yourself, preparing your body and connecting with the breath. Draw in deep inhales through the nose and release smooth, long exhales through the nose. Continue this process for several rounds until you feel calm, collected, and present with the moment.
Begin to find an affirmation that calls to you for your yoga practice today. You can go through the list one by one or stick with only one until you begin to feel like you are truly embodying it.
Meditate and focus your attention on the one you have chosen, setting the intention up. And take that intention with as you move, flow, and breathe through your practice.
